I really wanted to try to use my panorama photo app to put something together to show the beauty of this circus tin but I didn’t have a whole lot of time – my regular Amvets is full of curious and suspicious people. I really almost bought this thing because it was 99 cents and from the “Circus Creepy” genre (couldn’t you just imagine a severed head being delivered in that tin? It would also be nice for storing yarn and marbles). But I left it behind.

It was only 99 cents. I think that shows how much I have learned about bringing vintage plastic items homes just because they have daisies or mushrooms on them.

There are the pieces of jewelry that I wanted: The daisy horseshoe pin (no better combo than daisies and horse shoes!!) and matching earrings and the groovy deco rose broach. I imagine they could have been family heirlooms passed on from me to my youngster family members and so on and so on. But It is hard to start an heirloom collection when you are cheap.

Have I already told you how hard it is for me to leave anything red, white, and blue behind at the thrift store? I love, love, love any kind of bicentennial memorabilia (almost as much as I love 84 Olympics stuff). I don’t know why. Red, white, and blue – stars and stripes stuff doesn’t match anything other than red, white, and blue stars and stripes stuff. Maybe I will become the stars and bars lady like there are Christmas ladies.

Now this scarf isn’t bicentennial but it is red, white, and blue and represents early America. What was I thinking? I hope it found a good home….maybe it is still there…I can go camp out and wait for Amvets to open tomorrow morning…

I wanted to see if this baby was battery operated or what. It reminded me of something they had in our classrooms back in the olden days when monkey bars were made of metal and rusty nails. The second I walked away a bald dude, who was also holding a pitching machine (yeah, I missed out on that one too), grabbed it. I would have told him about this blog but he seemed impressed with the technology of this piece so I figured he wasn’t into silly ol blogs.

This is used to cover your blender or anything counter-top tall – like I was going to buy this to cover my stack of hundred-dollar bills. It is a rare piece, this cactus cozy because it is a southwestern theme in a southern thrift store. It featured a nice wooden ring at the top so the owner can just pull the cozy off and say “waaaaah-lah!” Alas, I couldn’t see it fitting into my kitchen so I left it at the thrift store.

From KFW: “…another find in Madison, GA. It's an amazing vintage picnic set. I love the moss green flatware, the birch flatware, the plaid thermos, and the battered case. Mark thought the whole thing was a little like a Goodwill best-of-show and he didn't appreciate the dirty spoons. While I see what he's saying what's wrong with the Goodwill best-of-show and I coulda cleaned the spoons!!!”
